Digital audio plugin SDK and support for ROLAND® V-STUDIOS™ digital recording studio
A comprehensive solution to a complex problem.
When ROLAND® decided to add a third-party plugin architecture to their popular V-STUDIOS™ digital audio workstations, they called Art & Logic for assistance. Through a partnership between the two companies, Art & Logic consulted with ROLAND engineers developing the VS8F-3 expansion card and created a Software Development Kit (SDK) to be used by third-party developers of audio effects plugins.
Art & Logic played a critical role in all phases of this project. Early in the design process, Art & Logic advised the ROLAND engineers when selecting a DSP chip for their card. After the successful release of the SDK, Art & Logic became ROLAND’s development and support partner, assisting third-party developers and acting as a liaison with ROLAND’s design team in Japan.

As of February 2004, several companies have announced audio effects plugins using Art & Logic’s SDK, including Antares (Auto-Tune), Universal Audio (1176LN and LA2A), Sound Toys (SoundBlender), and others (see below). Over the years, these popular plugins have been used to produce platinum-selling records by a variety of artists. ROLAND’s new plugin architecture makes these audio effects available to a rapidly expanding user base, including over 100,000 compatible systems already in use.

Antares Auto-Tune VS
Auto-Tune VS corrects intonation problems in vocals or solo instruments, in
real time, without distortion or artifacts, while preserving all of the expressive
nuance of the original performance.

IK Multimedia T-RackS VS is the premiere analog mastering software suite, offering
all the necessary tools for professional mastering. The processing, including
EQs and Dynamics, is based on physically modeled analog sounds from rare
vintage hardware mastering equipment. This high quality processing makes
T-RackS very easy to use and results in highly-professional sounding mixes.

McDSP Chrome Tone Amp
From guitars to keyboards, drums and even voice, Chrome Tone Amp brings the
world of custom guitar amps and boutique pedal effects to your V-Studio.
Chrome Tone Amp features a five stage distortion and a unique bandpass distortion
for creative nontraditional applications. Chrome Tone Amp also has full-featured
compression, gating, 3 band EQ, spring reverb and a multi configuration cabinet
simulator with close and room mic positions.
Sound Toys® SoundBlender VS™
SoundBlender brings professional studio-quality pitch shifting effects to the
Roland VS platform. Perfect for the guitarist, SoundBlender has 2 channels

processors, arpeggiation and more.
