Affiliated vendors offer substantial discounts on products and services in exchange for a guaranteed bulk sale. Users can select their target region and view the deal of the day for that area. Art & Logic also developed the administrative back-end, which allows maintaining the bargains by area, user account information, and more. The web application is built with Ruby on Rails, with a MySQL database backend.

Vantage Point Media hired Art & Logic to create an interactive Flash application to allow visitors to their site configure the Evo Wall System product. The Evo Wall System consists of mounting hardware, horizontal and vertical mounting rails, decorative tiles, shelves, white boards, chalk boards, and numerous other options to be released to market. WallCustomizer is a Flash application with a sliding list of Evo System components represented as thumbnail images. User select a tiles which are placed on the wall by the application. Colors, wood grains, textures, etc can be selected by the user. Components may be dragged from a sliding list and placed on the grid. In addition to the Evo System components users can also select items such as flat panel TVs, DVD players, speakers, etc. and place them on the wall grid. When satisfied they can save the design and print out a shopping list of components required to construct the layout. In addition to the Flash front end, A&L also produced a web admin interface for maintaining the components in a MySQL database that were accessible to the Flash application.

MallTV, LLC hired Art & Logic to translate their MallTV WAP application for use on iPhones. Since Safari on the iPhone does not support Flash, the implementation uses Javascript although the resulting interface looks and behaves just like the Flash version. MallTV is a portal for cell phones and television and links users to popular third-party third-party websites. A&L created scripts to parse throught ESPN's mobile content and convert it to the MallTV matrix format, now called MallMobi. more...

MallTV is a portal for cell phones and television and links users to popular third-party third-party websites. A&L created scripts to parse throught ESPN's mobile content and convert it to the MallTV matrix format, now called MallMobi. The ESPNMall pages are updated every 30 minutes and cached on the MallTV server. The Matrix is dyamically created depending on the number of links found on each ESPN page that are associated with numbered keys on the phone. In order to maintain capatibility with the Blackberry, iPhone, and Treo, text was converted to images for the interface because it was discovered that not all devices support all font sizes. Separate versions were created iPhone, and MobilePC/Blackberry/Treo.

Given the enormous load on the site, the key challenges were to develop a system that could handle this much traffic while also providing the flexibility for Oakley to update the site frequently. more...

This large public web site is one of the most popular web sites in the world, receiving millions of hits per day. Art & Logic developed all the back-end code (PHP), including database (MySQL), administrative tools, reports, and a custom content management system. Given the enormous load on the site, the key challenges were to develop a system that could handle this much traffic while also providing the flexibility for Oakley to update the site frequently. There's quite a bit of complex business logic that's not immediately apparent from looking at the site. For example, specials on sunglasses in Australia occur at a different time of the year than specials here in the U.S., because of the opposite seasons in the southern hemisphere.
