Sterling Publishing Co. is one of the world's leading publishers of nonfiction titles with more than 5000 books in print. Sterling hired Art & Logic to develop HappyHour, an iPhone application featuring thousands of drink recipes from 10,000 Drinks, a book by Paul Knorr. Users manipulate spinner wheels and use the iPhone's motion sensors to search by liquors, mixers, and beverage types.

iLearning Online Interactive for Harcourt Interactive Technology (iloli™)

Art & Logic developed a suite of web applications that provides Harcourt's Reading and Math Assessment Tests to elementary school students across the country via the internet. The applications enable school superintendents to create Teacher accounts, who in turn can create Student accounts, create classroom groups, assign tests to students either as a group or as part of their individual development plans. Art & Logic developed a suite of web applications that provides Harcourt's Reading and Math Assessment Tests to elementary school students across the country via the internet. The applications enable school superintendents to create Teacher accounts, who in turn can create Student accounts, create classroom groups, assign tests to students either as a group or as part of their individual development plans. Students log onto the system, take tests, and view test results instantaneously. Teachers and Supervisors can view reports to gauge how students are performing against state benchmarks. A separate offline application was developed for importing XML content into the backend database. iloli™ applications have delivered millions of online assessments to hundreds of thousands of primary and secondary school students in the United States. The iloli framework implements Harcourt's HSPOA and READS product lines. Following the completion of the original application for Harcourt Interactive Technology (HIT), the Harcourt Education and Measurement (HEM) group hired Art & Logic to modify the original application for use with their testing products. Unlike HSPOA and READS, which are assessment practice tools, the SDRT/SDMT product is a "high stakes" test administered to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The Online Photo Archive of the New York Daily News

Daily News Pix is the photo archive of New York's Daily News, showcasing 90 years of images from the tabloid. Art & Logic developed this web site for Lightbox Network. Users can browse for images by category or search for images and may purchase professional, framed prints. Media users may register and license images for publication, and the tools in Daily News Pix allow an administrative user to invoice license holders, review and update print orders, and manage royalties for contributing photographers, as well as customize the home page and other site content.

App for Finding People and Places

LikeMe is a native iPhone app that provides an easy-to-use front end to Village Voice Media's LikeMe web site. The app lets users locate their current place or a favorite place nearby, and make a recommendation to gain City Guide points. Users may log into LikeMe.Net anytime to find people like them, learn about suggested places, and follow recommendations from people like them.

In 2008 Pearson completed the purchase of Harcourt Assessment from Reed Elsevier. As part of the purchase, Pearson acquired the SDRT/SDMT application, one of the iloli™ application that Art & Logic built for Harcourt, Inc. A&L continues to support the applications for Pearson, providing system enhancements and low-level data analysis services.

Playing With Positive Words

p i c t u r e l e s s Books is a children's e-book series by co-authors Teffanie T. White and Adrea L. Peters. Art & Logic was hired to bring the simple, card-based word books to the iOS platform. The app inspires vocabularies that uplift, surprise, and teach using positive words. Users can play with spelling, anagrams, and acronyms. They can send cards to others, post words to friends' facebook pages, or shuffle and shake the alphabet deck for random, delightful letter/word combinations.

Mayer-Johnson hired Art & Logic to write a collection of engaging iOS apps for use by educators, speech-language pathologists and parents. The apps are built around Dynavox/Mayer-Johnson's library of thousands of PCS (Picture Communication Symbol) images, with high fidelity audio recordings of each word and phrase. Art & Logic drew on its expertise in mobile development to build each app as an exciting, interactive game or activity to help make learning fun for young children or individuals with speech and language challenges.
