Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF), a joint venture of GE, Hitachi and Toshiba, designs and manufactures fuel for commercial nuclear power plants. In an effort to maintain and improve the quality and design of its product, GNF periodically inspects fuel bundles after they have been in service. In an effort to maintain and improve the quality and design of its product, GNF periodically inspects fuel bundles after they have been in service. The data collected from these inspections is analyzed and used to make improvements to their manufacturing processes. Art & Logic was hired because of its extensive background developing automated industrial data collection, storage and processing systems. Art & Logic defined and specified a software application that would automate 90% of GNF's existing analog and digital data handling system, resulting in the ability to more thoroughly analyze greater amounts of data in a shorter period of time.
