Discover Art & Logic
What’s Different About Us
Art & Logic is a very different kind of company. Perhaps the most striking difference is
our geographically distributed, “virtual” office. By leveraging the internet, we hire the most
talented, detail-oriented staff—from all over North America.
Hiring the best and brightest has clear advantages. It’s well documented that the key factor in successful software projects is the talent of individual team members. The difference between a “good” programmer and an “outstanding” programmer can be as much as a factor of ten, in terms of productivity.
As a nice side benefit, our staff are very loyal. By treating people well, and giving them a zero-commute, environmentally-friendly work environment, they stay with us. Our staff turnover rate is far below the industry average.
Project Management & Development Practices
In order to make projects succeed, the designers and developers need to be well-managed. We staff all our projects with detail-oriented project managers. We also have formal development methodologies to ensure management and development consistency.
For a brief overview of our development practices, see the Development Practices Manifesto and the programming style guide.
The Virtual Office
Software projects are most likely to succeed when an abundant amount of clear, timely information is available to clients and the entire team. Our network infrastructure makes it easy for our clients to be virtually “on-site” with us every day.
The Online Collaboration Environment is a FirstClass-based conferencing system (see firstclass.com), configured specifically for managing geographically distributed software projects. Through this virtual workspace, your team will get real-time information about all aspects of your project—including project planning, design, work-in-progress, and defect tracking.
This service is hosted at our Network Operations Center and can be accessed using a secure application, available for Windows, Mac, *nix, and PDA platforms.
