Gibson USA hired Art & Logic to build the Macintosh version of the Bluetooth updater for their Firebird X guitar firmware. The Firebird X is a limited edition collector's edition guitar with onboard effects, computerized analog tone switching, and many other features.

Digital Audio Plugin SDK and Support

When ROLAND® decided to add a third-party plugin architecture to their popular V-STUDIOS™ digital audio workstations, they called Art & Logic for assistance. Through a partnership between the two companies, Art & Logic consulted with ROLAND engineers developing the VS8F-3 expansion card, and created a Software Development Kit (SDK) to be used by third-party developers of audio effects plugins. After the successful release of the SDK, Art & Logic became ROLAND's development and support partner, assisting third-party developers and acting as a liaison with ROLAND's design team in Japan.

Dave Mustaine: Guitar Prodigy

The Way of H hired Art & Logic to develop new features for their flagship app Rock Prodigy and their new release Dave Mustaine: Guitar Prodigy. The project was to make these iOS apps more useful and easier to use with specific attention to new and important functions which allow the user to adjust the tempo of playback and loop certain sections of a song for focused practice. The "Beat Thang" Groovebox Software

Beat Kangz Electronics hired Art & Logic to create the firmware for the Beat Thang, a new groovebox aimed at the hip hop market. The project also includes a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) plugin for Mac OS X and Windows called the Beat Thang Virtual. It is available at Sam Ash, Guitar Center, and online.

Bring DPS Acoustics to your PC

Bongiovi Acoustics hired Art & Logic to port their software-based active signal processing technology from Mac to Windows. Digital Power Station for Windows is a system-wide utility that enriches the audio quality of any music or movie being played on your computer. The software won the CES 2012 Innovations Honorees award in the Software and Mobile Apps category.

Virtual Patchbay Application

Otari hired Art & Logic to develop a virtual patchbay application that controls how pieces of audio equipment communicate over a firewire network. Art & Logic solved a number of difficult design problems including how to quickly display and update the thousands of connection possiblities between multiple audio devices. This software is currently used in real-time production at locations such as television stations and live performance theatres.

User Interface Design for Speaker Control Center

JBL wanted a sleek user interface design for their LSR4300 Studio Monitor Control Center. Our design team worked together with JBL's development team to bring their original pencil sketches to life. The 3D user interface makes it easier to configure high-end speaker systems. The system has won many awards within the pro audio industry.

Academy Award for Technical Achievement

The ADE system, developed for Soundelux in Hollywood, California, combines software application and interface electronics to help film sound editors bridge the gap between traditional movieola editing and digital editing. ADE automatically generates a list of edits on the computer by reading the physical cuts on the film stock. The device improves the accuracy of the initial edits and reduces labor by many hours for a typical feature film.

Antares Audio Technologies hired Art & Logic to bring their world standard Auto-Tune 3 professional intonation correcting plugin onto the Microsoft Windows platform. Art & Logic enhanced the original codebase by adding DirectX envelope automation, improving the user interface, and updating the architecture to exploit the audio capabilities unique to Microsoft Windows. Art & Logic worked closely with PACE to ensure that InterLok copy protection was integrated into the final product. As the development neared completion, Art & Logic created and managed a beta program to ensure that Auto-Tune 3 would be ready to ship immediately upon acceptance. more...

Developed for Accordance Music Systems, HotzMaker is a graphical authoring system for creating multimedia MIDI experiences. The program allows the user to connect components such as images and sliders to build detailed graphical landscapes that are both beautiful and functional. These landscapes let beginning musicians play along with a CD, even if they don't know the chords of the song, while spectacular graphics are synchronized to the music.

Personalized Trainer Workouts for MP3 Players

iTrain is a website that sells downloadable music for workouts. Art & Logic was responsible for all aspects of the project, including user interface design, layout, and construction; administrative tools, setting up e-commerce, testing, and project management. Most of the user interface is done in Flash. The server-side code is PHP/MySQL. There are multiple servers, with load balancing. You'll need to register to get a password to log into the site. Registering is quick, simple, and free.

Written using Apple's Cocoa technology, the application allows an Xboard user to edit and store MIDI banks and patches on the Xboard device, as well as save and load banks/patches on disk. Among the challenges in the development of this application, Art & Logic was required to support a complex cross-platform graphical user interface, for which custom controls were developed. All device communication was accomplished using Apple's CoreMIDI technology, providing an efficient, quality experience for the user.

Music in Education™ for Yamaha

"The philosophy of the Music In Education program is singular in purpose: to create a classroom music program that provides a contemporary focus to the musical and curricular traditions of the general music classroom." Art & Logic was hired by Yamaha to port the Windows version of Music in Education™ to a native Cocoa application for Mac OS X. The MIE system includes 16 MIE keyboards linked with MIDI to the MIE software running on a G4 Macintosh computer. The software provides a hands-on learning experience for students while freeing the instructor to move among the students while accessing accompaniments and music samples via a wireless remote control system.

eMusic.com Download Manager

We implemented the Macintosh version of eMusic Download Manager based on Carbon so that it runs natively on both Mac OS X and Mac OS 9. The self-updating download manager is used to download music files from eMusic.com, parse XML metadata, and perform EMP file decryption.

iTunes Plugin for e.Digital Corporation

Audio Enhancement for the Mac

SRS Labs (now part of DTS, Inc) hired us to provide a system-wide solution for their audio processing technologies on the Mac. Using the Soundflower virtual audio driver, the application captures all system audio and processes it using SRS' proprietary audio processing algorithms. We implemented a custom UI provided by the client to match their existing Windows application. With Audio Essentials on the Mac, you can now give a big boost to your music, videos or whatever audio you play on your computer.
